Update on this thread.

Thanks to some kind people on the brickwalls group no Yahoo Groups, I can now add the following:

William Henry Carter, born c. 1890-1895, England. married Ada Mona E. Page 1920, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire.

They had 4 children:
Twins George & Mary, born 1921, died 1921, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, England
Son, William, born 1928, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, England.
Daughter Joyce, born 1930, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire (this is my mum).

William Jr. married Margaret Ritchie (b. Kirkcaldy, date unknown).

Joyce married David L. Gordon (b. Inverkeillor, 1929) 1950, Lakenheath, Suffolk, England.

Anyone help.

I have the GRO details and intend to order a copy of William Sr & Ada's marriage cert as soon as funds allow.

Do these details tie in with anyone elses tree?

Any help/guidance as to how to proceed would be appreciated.

Regards & Best Wishes,

Kay

I have hit a dead end where my mother's family is concerned. My mother JOYCE CARTER was born in St Ives, Cambs around about 1929/1930 to WILLIAM HENRY CARTER and ADA CARTER (maiden name unknown). They also had a son, also WILLIAM. They moved at some time to Lakenheath, Suffolk at some time and my grandfather worked in the chicory factory in the town. He was involved in an industrial accident while he was there that resulted in him losing his fingers on his right hand just below the first knuckle. Has anyone heard this story? The family lived for a while at Sharps (or possibly Sharpers) Corner, Lakenheath. My parents married in Lakenheath in 1950, after my father (DAVID GORDON) met my mum while being stationed there doing his national service in the RAF. I don't know whether this will help anyone or not, but it has been rumoured that my grandfather served in the US Army at some point prior to meeting my grandmother. Any information regarding these relatives would be really helpful, as it appears that the branch stops here. Kay
