I'm searching for any relatives, past or present, of my grandfather, ROBERT HAROLD LEE born 1879/80 in Hull or North Cave and surrounds. He worked for the Hull City Trams for 18 years. He married Amy Ellyard and they had 3 children - Eric born c.1901( who married Joan Gibbons ) and died 1985, Doris Amy my mother born 1907(who married my father Roland Albert Lax) and died 1940 and Leslie born c.1910/11 died probably 1965. My grandfather was the son of Robert William Lee and Hannah Mary Lee.of North Cave. My grandfather probably had a brother called Ernest. Due to a bereavment I am now in possession of official papers which detail my grandfather's death:- He enlisted during the 1914-18 World War in the Lincolnshire Regiment as a Private No. 34833 but he was transferred to the 46th Company, Labour Corps (no. 27255) where he died at the age of 37 on 25th October 1917 from war wounds received in France /Flanders. He is buried in Menin Road South Military Cemetery, leper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. The grave reference is 111.J.24 which stands for Plot 3, Row J, Grave 24. I really would like to hear from any person, relative or otherwise who can give me any information concerning my grandfather Robert. Hoping for any response, Kind regards, Ronald Victor Lax. |
