I have info about a John Robinson aka John William Johnson born Hastings Sussex c1848. Enlisted 60th Rifles at Cosham 14/3/1867 aged 19. Discharged 17/3/1877. Married Elizabeth Ann Carter 22/10/1874 at St. Stephens, Devonport Devon. Description given as soldier based at Raglan Barracks. Father Samuel Johnson - Plasterer. Elizabeths father Joseph Carter - Labourer. He died 18/11/1885 in a railway carriage at Victoria Station age 38. Occupation given as Tailors Packer of 48 Robinson Street, Queens Road, Battersea. Buried Brompton cemetry 24/11/1885. Any leads prior to 1871. also Arthur Johnson born 1876 Devonport, Devon. Cannot locate in 1901 census. Mary A. Johnson born 1880 portland, Dorset. Cannot locate in 1901 census. John W. Johnson born 1883 Pimlico, London. 1901 census: Enginers Machines (sic) Battersea? Walter g. Johnson born 1874 Battersea, London. 1901 census: Servant, Lambeth, London Nellie E. Nott born 1891 Battersea, London. Cannot locate in 1901 census. Elizabeth A. Nott (previously Johnson, nee Carter) born 1853 Wyke Regis, Dorset. Cannot locate 1901 census. any help appreciated. Regards, Terry Johnson |
