John (Goodger?) Clark was born 1841 in Smethwick, Staffordshire and married Mary Elizabeth Oakes who was born 1847 in Camberwell, Surrey. John was a builder. They had 4 children that I know of : John W. 1878, George Goodger 1879, Augusta E. 1883 and Herbert H. 1887, all born in Smethwick. George Goodger married Florence Winefride Pitt in Birmingham and apparently had 8 children, Winefride, Stanley F. 1912 and William Gerard in 1913 are all I know, and they were born in Edgbaston in Birmingham. Florence died approx. in 1915 and George remarried. As far as I know this woman didn't want his kids and they were all farmed off?? We think they went on to have more children but don't have any names. I think they may have married in Solihull and maybe lived in that area. William Gerard Clark was my father-in-law and was very secretive about his past so it is all a bit of a mystery! If there is anyone out there that can help or thinks they may have a connection, please contact me!! |
