I am trying to find out about my grandfather John Bennett (known as Jack)as I never knew him. He and my grandmother split when my mum was 2 (1954) . He was born in Blackburn in Lancashire in 1916 and had a brother and a sister, Martha and Arthur. His parents names were John Thomas Bennett and Florence Nightingale Duckworth. In October 1940 he married my grandmother Bertha Hartley at Christ Church in Blackburn. I believe that after he and my grandma split he eventually moved to Wolverhampton (Willenhall) were he lived until he died of bowel cancer I believe in 1991. I don't know very much about him and I only have 2 photographs of him and one of his brother Arthur. I have been told that he had a talent for playing the piano and never needed the music he played by ear. He remarried but I don't know the name of his wife he and my grandmother only divorced in 1976 so he could marry. I also know that he was a truck driver for Bowkers a haulage firm, this is what caused the marriage break up as he had an eye for the ladies and had many affairs whilst on the road. |
