Hello Angela
Sorry about this very late reply. have had several major life events plus moving house. I have discovered another Clarkin, Joseph, born c.1820 from Cootehill who joined the 63rd regiment in England and then was sent off to India. He and his wife ended up in Australia . I suspect that he was an uncle of my gggrandmother as he acquired land in the same area as Bernard, my gguncle. Clarkin wasnt a common name but many variations appear.
I will look up the site you have supplied. Thank you
Joan.

My mother was a Clarkin. Her grandad was Michael Clarkin, who was born july 1866 at Curracloghan Lurgan nr. Virginia Co.Cavan. His parents were Thomas and Margaret (nee Fitzsimons), who were married in Jan 1862. I have found the birth Details of 3 Thomas Clarkins of the right age. I have accessed a new web site which has been helpful to get the dates but the marriage ones do not give fathers names. The website is;- http://cavan.brsgenealogy.com so hope this is useful.

Trying to find more about Clarkins from Cavan Lurgan Virginia area of Ireland. Bryan/Brian/Bernard? and Anne Brady had children Catherine c 1826, Bernard & Bridget[maybe twins] c.1836 and Mary c1840, possibly others. All of the above children went to Australia. Catherine married John Jarrett, Bridget married F Lofts. Mary and her widowed mother Anne, arrived 1858. Can't find marriage or death of either of them. Are any descendants still in Ireland?
