In 1824 my Great grandfatherx3, Stephen/Steven Roberts applied to become a citizen of the Cape Colony, South Africa. He gave his place of origin as Walton-on-the Naze, Essex. He had left England working as a carpenter on board HMS Sprey. He left the ship in 1816, presumably in Cape Town. He then married and had six children there. I have no other information about him. Is anyone else missing a Stephen/Steven who might fit this picture? |
