I am hoping for information on my fathers side of the family. His name was Norman Martin he was born in Gateshead in 1916, as far as i know he had 3 brothers called Jack, Fred, not sure name of the third brother but one moved to Australia before the second world war. Fred and Jack Lived in Newcastle and i know have family still there. My Dad Joined the Kings Own Scotish Borderers in around 1931 when he was just 15 he lied about his age to be able to join up, i belive he wanted or needed to get away from his father who didnt have alot of time for my dad seeing as his wife died in giving birth to my father, i belive he owned butcher shops at the time Martins Butchers. My father had as far as i know an older sister Nora who brought my dad up. .Then he met mum Ethel Norton they married and lived in Leeds but dad was posted away in the war, they had 4 children Rita Agnes, Linda Christine, Vincent Allen, Jacqueline Ann.When he was demobed from the Army the settled in Leeds. Use to visit Newcastle with Dad to see his family when Nora was alive but she sadly passed away. It would be nice to know a little more about my dads family as he sadly passed away. if anyone could help. |
