Trying to trace my Great Grandfather Thomas Clark Wood who I believe came from Buckinghamshire. He had 4 children, Amy, Jim, Millicent and Ernest (my grandfather). The family moved to Skelmanthorpe West Yorkshire in the early 1900's. Ernest was married there in 1919 to Florence Johnson, they had 5 children Bessie, Dolly, Robert (or Bob, my father), Mildred and Barbara. Ernest was in the army and was at one point a cook in the officers mess at barracks near Leeds. I think that Jim and his family later moved to the Leeds area, their sister Amy had an illegitimate son Arthur, who went on to own a greengrocers shop at Denby Dale. Ernest and Florence moved to The Drill Hall at Kirkburton, where I think he must have been caretaker and was involved with the Home guard during WW2. Any information, however obscure, would be greatly received. Thanks. |
