Does anyone have any knowledge or link to a Joseph Turner who married a Millicent Roberts on 21st May 1921 at Plymouth Register Office. I understand that Joseph was paid to marry Millicent and soon afterwoods would have either emigrated to USA or moved home? On the marriage certificate, he is listed as a farm labourer and living at 6 Jubilee Place, Embankment Rd , Plymouth (albeit with Millicent -which is unlikely! or possible if they were friends!). He is aged 27, so born around 1894 and his father is listed as a John Turner (deceased) who was a railway engine driver! This might help to provide a link , I have found on 1901 census, a John Turner (aged 38) married to Mary A (although think it might be Mary Hannah) Turner (aged 41) with Joseph and other children including Henry, John, and Margaret living in North Manchester-Prestwich , Newton, Lancashire. In general most of the family appear to be born either Derbyshire or Lacashire. At the moment I am trying to link a John Turner to Joseph to confirm the right inviduals, and then possibly trace any decendants to see if they were ever aware of this story? Someone's grandad/grandma may have heard that there father married a Millicent Robert and then remarried later? Any help would be appreciated. |
