Hi, I am trying to find out about the family of Samuel Rueben Patrick Harrison born c 1861 and brother Edward "Ned" born c 1865. They possibly came from Athlone, Ireland.Their father Abraham was a blacksmith and may have been linked with the British Army or been a horse trader. The brothers emigrated to Garston Liverpool sometime before 1887. In 1887 Sam married Sarah Agnes Gill. In 1895 Ned married her sister Catherine Gill. While Ned was a ship's greaser and worked on merchant ships, Sam was a sailmaker and around 1915 he emigrated to South Africa; his wife died shortly before, but one daughter (Agnes) emigrated to East London to be with him. In 1916, aged 55yrs, he remarried to Beatrice Elizabeth Muller, a Boer, aged 20 yrs. They may have had several children, including 2 sisters Patricia Rubena and Kathleen, who later were schooled in India pre1940. Sam had business interests in Burma. Any links to these persons would be most useful. Thanks, Keith Ellison |
