I would be interested to hear from any descendants of George Roberts and Ann Knight who married in 1848, or from anyone with information. George was a gamekeeper, firstly in the Thurgarton, Nottingham area and then to Admiral Mitford at Hunmanby Hall, N Yorks. He later became a netmaker and lived in Church St Eastwood Notts. I know that George and Ann had 3 sons, John George, Henry H and Thomas William, born in Hunmanby between 1858 and 1867, but there may have been others, born between 1848 and 1857. They also had a grandson Charles G Roberts, born 1879/80 (?who were his parents?). George also had a daughter Jane Cragg Roberts (born 1843) by his first wife, Jane Cragg, who appears to have died in childbirth. This daughter was my gt grandmother, Jane Whitfield. |
