I am trying to find information on David John Jones known at POTATO JONES he was a sea captain on the Marie Llewellyn during the Spanish Civil War he also helped with the moving of spanish refugees. Also Tom Jones from Rhosllanerchrugog who was taken hostage when he joined the International Brigade. He was Secretary of the Rhos Peace council previously,. The Tom Jones spoken of is a great local hero and an inspiration to all of us who believe in Peace and Justice for all.Another thing he was famous for,was that he was in the last Rescue Team ordered out of the Gresford Colliery,after the Disaster,before it was sealed.I somehow don't think we will see the like of such a man again,in this "Me first,second and third" sick society in which we live. |
