Find Ancestors

Hello, I am trying to trace family and the info I have is as follows.. My father`s name was Peter McDonald Forbes and he was born in Edinburgh 1920. At some point he was fostered to people called Lowry in the highlands of Scotland, but must have been very young as he had no memory of that. He thought he could remember a young man called Robbie used to visit him when he was a little boy, and thought he said he was his brother, so can`t confirm this. I have been trying to trace his family for a long time now..on record his mother`s name was Isabella Hogg Forbes..maiden name Hume and was first married from 1903 to 1918 to David Henderson Martin [ it seems he was killed in the 1st world war ] she then married my grandfather on her marriage and death record it states Peter Forbes was her second husband [ can find no trace of him in the records] and have been told he was never born or died in Scotland. her birth date was 7/7/1884 and he was born around 1879 as according to the marriage record in 1919 he was forty years old. Isabella`s mother was Jane Lister Hume [maiden name Bridges ] and her father was David hume. Can anyone out there help ??
