I am looking for more information/connections of my grandmother's side of the family. My grandmother (still living) is Elizabeth Mary Dowler (nee Clarke). Her father's name was Sydney John Clarke and was born in Marlborough, Wiltsure. His brother was William Clarke and we think he is buried in Cologne. His sister was Elizabeth Clarke. grandfather was John/James(?) Clarke. John/James Clarke married a woman called Elizabeth Ann Bridgeman, and she was a school teacher/caretaker. On the 1901 census, John/James and Elizabeth were living at 26 Louisa Street in Bristol. They had a Son, Samuel, aged 7, Elizabeth, daughter, 5 the grandmother of James/John, Mary A Hart, Emily Smithwhite, a family friend and Emily Smithwhite daughter of 2months. Some of these details may be wrong, but if anyone knows anymore then please contact me! Emma Lunn |
