Trying to find Hill

Patricia Deverall (nee Hill) If anyone can help I am trying to find out info. on my Gr G'Father his name was James (Nobby) Hill born approx. 1860-61 in Herefordshire, one of his brothers was named Cornelius, it was a family tradition to name the first born James after the Father, (my grandfather was named James) his wife Mary (maiden name not known) but previously married name was Downs 3 children Ted,Tom & Ethel. Nobby joined the police force in the 1920's and served for approx 6 years reaching the rank of sargeant. He then resigned and travelled to Denmark, Canada and Australia where he worked on The Sydney Harbour Bridge, he returned to uk and worked aas a topman in the blitz had a bad accident and died approx 1944. Grandad Nobbys son joined the post office at 14, he served in the first world war as a rifleman with the post office rifles, he was wounded in the leg. Hope someone might be able to help.
