I am trying to trace my great grandmother Beatrice Mary Evans (possibly Mary Beatrice Evans) born around 1890 probably in Crewe. Her married name was Kirkpatrick and she spent time in Montreal, Canada with her husband who was serving with the army there. It was here in 1914 that her daughter Elsie was born, a son followed who died in infancy. In around 1918 the family had returned to England and had settled in the North of England. One day Beatrice handed her 4 year old daughter some sweets and told her to wait on the doorstep for her father. Elsie never saw her mother again and was brought up by her father and an aunt and uncle, she died in 1983. The rest of the family often wonder what happened to Beatrice, we suspect she eloped, affected by her youth and the trauma of her baby son's death. Any information appreciated. |
