Am trying to find any descendents of my great-great grandparents, Lewis Evans (c. 1848-1920), coal miner (later mine manager) and Margaret Lewis (b.c 1851). They had 12 children & my great-aunt gave me some snippets of information that she could remember about them, but I don't know anything more and would love to get in touch with any of their descendents. (I do have earlier family history information). They were: Ann J EVANS b.c. 1874 Llangiwg, Glamorgan Mary G. EVANS b.c. 1876 " John Lewis EVANS b.c. 1878 " (said to have been manager of a coal mine in Pontardulais in WWII & to have received a BEM for his contribution to the coal industry). Griffith L EVANS (Griff) b.c. 1880 " (became a coal exporter, Leandenhall Chambers, London). David EVANS (Dai) b. c. 1881 " (Said to have gone off to work in gold mines in Africa and died in the 1920s). Margaret EVANS (Maggie) b.c. 1883 " Hannah EVANS b.c. 1885 " Philip EVANS b.c. 1887 " (Coal miner). Lewis EVANS (Less) b. 1890 " (Steel worker) My g-grandfather - m. Gertrude JOSEPHin 1914. Elizabeth EVANS (Bessie) b.c. 1892 Pontardawe William Th EVANS (Theo) b.c. 1894 Pontardawe Aylena / Elena (Lena) EVANS c.1894-1983 Vicky. |
