Trying to find Hill

Looking for any information on John Hill, my paternal grandfather. Born c 1882. Married Mary Anne Devlin in Moneyglass Antrim on 16.7.1912. Gave address of David Street Glasgow at the time. Bricklayer by trade, as was his father James. John Hill was, according to family stories, a twin. He is alleged to have swopped identities with his twin brother when on leave during WW1, at which point he deserted his wife and two children. His wife died, aged 29, in 1916. The children were taken in by their mother's family. Allegedly, at some point, John Hill came back and tried to take the children, but the family would not give them up and he then left and was never heard of again. He is believed to have spent time in America/Canada prior to his marriage. He travelled with his future brother-in-law Peter Devlin, on the boat back to Ireland some time prior to 1912.
