I am trying to find any relations or connections with my paternal grandmother Lilian Doris Hill (known as Lily) born in 1897/8 in Guisborough Yorkshire. Her parents were Marshall and Elizabeth Hill. I believe that she had 2 brothers George W Hill and Jonathan R Hill - one a year older and one a year younger than her. There was a much younger sister Edna Norah Hill born in Guisborough in 1919. Lily married Robert Stephen Smith in 1918 at Saltburn by Sea. He was a schoolmaster in the army and they were in India. having had three children Lily dies of TB on the ship home from India- with her death recorded as 20 January 1923 at Netley in Portsmouth. Would love to hear from anyone who recognises this story. Liz |
