I am trying to trace my ancestors in England. My great, great, great grandfather was Charles Wood and was transported to Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on the ship Medway in Nov 1820. He was foung guilty of housebreaking in Warwick on July 29th 1820 His father was William of Birmingham and his grandfather was John and was married to Ann Westley at St Phillips in Birmingham in 1750. This is as far as I can go back! Any further info would be appreciated. Charles was given a conditional pardon on August 30th 1834. His convict number was 283

Hi Chris. I have been trying to contact you. I am Glenn Woods. Probably distant cousins or something like that. I am also trying to search further back on this family. I have an extensive Wood/Woods family tree and would like to know where you fit in and we could possibly share our information and photo's. I come from Charles Wood's son, Charles Wood born 1826. If you would like to contact me, my email address is

Also, Glen, not a good idea to post your email address on a public site.
