I am looking for any links with my maternal grd.father, Thomas (Tom) Jackson, born Raleigh, Essex 1887. His father Thomas Jackson, born c1849 at Barrow. (1901 Census). Thomas Snr. worked mainly on the railway and canal constructions as a Navvy, including the Manchester Ship Canal. He married Rachel West at the Holy Trinity Church, Wimbledon, 24/10/1887. Rachael was previously married to James Herbert at All Saints, Northampton. 8/4/1869, but he is said to have met his death working on the railway. Thomas Jackson's (Senior) father was called Henry Jackson, thought to be from Ireland, having served in the Irish Army and were keepers of Dublin Castle. Any info on either the Jacksons, Wests or Herberts would be appreciated.
