Marjorie Helen Baker: Does anyone know what became of the family of Joseph Baker and Eliza Cartlidge of Stoke on Trent, STS. Both were born in Stoke, Joseph in 1839 and Eliza in 1838 and both worked at the Post Office there in 1881. At that time they were living at Regent Terrace in Stoke with their 7 children - Marion born 1863, Annie 1864, Frederick Joseph 1866, Albert 1869, Harry 1871, Joseph W. 1873 and Ernest W 1878. The childrens' year of birth have been estimated from census records. I have been unable to find the family since 1881 but my own father, born in 1896 remembered them living in Stoke when he was a boy. I do know that Marion died in Stoke in 1893 and Frederick Joseph died in 1911 a year after emigrating to Canada. Any help much appreciated. |
