Do you have Baker ancestors in West Somerset or South Devon? I am researching my Devon/Somerset family. The family seems to have come from the Exe valley (Devon/Somerset borders) and laterly the Teign Valley in South Devon. If anyone else is researching this Family I would like to hear from you. Below is a short extract of the family tree. Devon family names are Baker, Burge, Palmer, Rodgers. My Devon ancestors are: 1. Richard Baker b. 1844 Bishopsteignton - m. 1870 to Harriet Rogers b. 1839 Uffculme. 2. James Baker b. 1804 Bishopsteignton - m. 1841 to Mary Palmer b. 1854 Hennock. 3 children Mary b.1838, Richard b. 1844 and Eliza b. 1847. 3. Richard Baker b. 1767 Cutcombe, Somerset - m. 1794 to Mary b. 1794 Bishopsteignton. 6 children Richard b. 1794, Joseph b. 1796, Mary b. 1798, Sarah b. 1800, Jane b. 1803 and James b. 1804. Somerset family names are Baker, Pugsley, Evans, Ridler and Trip My Somerset ancestors are: 1. Richard Baker b. 1728 Cutcombe m. 1763 to Ann Herd b. ca 1742. 10 children Thomas b. 1764, Jenny b. 1765, Richard b. 1767, Ann b. 1770, Sarah b. 1772, William b. 1774, Joan b. 1776, Betty b. 1778, Mary b. 1781, Betty b. 1782. 2. Richard Baker b. 1706 Cutcombe m. 1727 Ruth Chilcott b. 1709. 1 child Richard born 1728 (He then remarried). This is as far back as I have gotten with any degree of confidence, anyone with information on this or related family trees please share information. Thanks. |
