Looking for birth/family details of MARY ANN COOK born around 1835 possibly Yorkshire. On death certificate says father was Henry Cook - farmservant. Mary Ann married (or lived with) Henry McCawley (or McAullay). Family was always told he was Scottish Protestant and eloped with Mary Ann who was English Catholic, but 1891 Census states he was born in Ireland. Possibly he was connected with the Baptist or Evangelical Church. Known offspring are James b. 1856; Joseph McCawley (McAullay) born 1861 Easington and Mary Ann McCawley born 1860 possibly Durham. Family moved at some point to Dalziel, Glasgow area where dau. Elizabeth 4 yrs died of whooping cough in 1869 and son Henry born 1871. daughter Mary Ann married a William Dixon in 1881 in Larkhall, Glasgow (also believed to be from Durham area - Hartlepoole) with son Joseph as witness. Extended family then moved to Candie pit in Muiravonside in Stirlingshire. Any information would be gratefully received as I have drawn a blank here Linda Temple
