Hi My name is Tracy Jayne Layland and I am trying to find information on my maternal grandfather and his relatives. His name was John Taylor dob 03/02/1906 - West Ham, London and d.o.d 15/07/1948 Trowbridge, Wiltshire. He married Rosina Lilian Downham on 03/03/1928, I am assuming in West Ham. His parents names were:- Charles Taylor and Kate McCabe, unfortunately, I do not have any dates for them at present. His siblings names were:- Charles Taylor; Ernest Taylor and Maud Taylor. I know he was a "Greaser" in the Merchant Navy and a "Stevedor" on the docks. He and my grandmother had 4 children and their names are:- John Taylor dob 1929 Ivy C Taylor dob 1931 dod 1932 Iris Taylor dob 1933 (my mother) Joyce Taylor dob 1935 Pauline Taylor dob 1940 As the story goes, my grandfather was originally from the Taylor Gypsies of London but how true this is I do not know. It was my grandmother that used to tell us this but she was quite a character and prone to telling stories :-). If anyone has any information about my grandfather and his relatives, I would love to hear from you. Thank you Regards Tracy Jayne Layland |
