My Grandmother was Caroline Hughes, who had 2 children, Ivy Lillian Hughes in 1923 and Doris Hughes in 1925 in Birmingham. She was unmarried, although my Grandfather is named as Albert King who worked in Handsworth Birmingham. Caroline went with her children to The Workhouse in 1925. Her children were subsequently left in Josiah Mason Home in Orphanage Road Erdington. My mother Ivy last remembers seeing her mother in approximately 1930/1931. If anyone has any information about Caroline I would be grateful as I am unable to trace my family tree any further on my mothers side |
