I am trying to get more information on my grandfather, ROBERT CARLETON HILL, b. c. 1865, in Southern Ireland. He went to Canada where he was married with a family. He then went out to India, possibly working with Race Horses. In India he married my grandmother NORAH MINNIE DOUGHTY, (b.c. 1883) in Ootacamund, where he was involved with the Races and worked on the Nilgiri Hill Mountain Railway. On retirement he was the Station Master in Ooty, and his picture hangs in the Station Master's Office there. He and Norah had two children - GRACE HILL and my father CARLETON GEORGE HILL b. 1913. Grace died in Durban as did Norah. Carleton died in England. Robert Hill died in Ooty. |
