Looking for information or links to the Baker family of Westmorland. James Johnson Baker (bn 1833 Barnard Castle) and his wife Agnes McLean (bn 1833 Scotland) are recorded on the 1881 Census as living at Gaisgill Station, Orton, Westmorland. James was the Station Master. They had 8 children - William (bn 1855 Barnard Castle) - School Master; Margaret (bn 1863 Barnard Castle); Hugh (bn 1864 Orton, Westmorland) - Railway Clerk; Agnes (bn 1867 Orton, Westmorland); Elizabeth (bn 1868 Orton, Westmorland); Elijah (bn 1871 Orton,Westmorland) - Solicitor Clerk Samuel (bn 1873 Orton, Westmorland) - Railway Booking Clerk; Martha (bn 1875 Orton, Westmorland).
