Trying to find information on my GG Grandmother, Ann Davis who married George Nash in August 1847, at St Anne's Church, Soho, Westminster. Her father was John Davis, a Bookseller. Ann was born about 1819 in Gloucestershire. Entry on 1871 Census says EBBLY. Cannot find this place on the OS Road Atlas. Think it was wrongly noted by the Enumerator, who could not understand what was said. In 1881 Ann's birthplace given just as Gloucester. Can anyone help with this place? Both Ann & George were resident in Gerrard Street, Soho at the time of marriage. Have tried to gind her father John Davis, using his possible birthplace in the County of Gloucestershire as a marker, but does not seem to have been still alive in 1871. Carol Grimston |
