Yvette The census was started in 1841 and has been taken every 10 years since(except 1941) You can access 1881 UK census on line by typing in FAMILY SEARCH in your search engine. It is run by the Church of Latter Day Saints. The 1901 UK Census is available online and for a charge via credit card or token a census image can be bought. You will have to wait another 8 years before the 1911 UK census is available. Earlier censuses do not have as much deatil as the latter ones. they can be accessed at Nottinghamshire Archives, Castle Meadow Road, Nottingham, NG2 1AG 01159 504524 [email protected] just a 5 min walk from Carrington Street Rail Station and situated behind the Magistrates Courts by the Canal. They are open on a Saurday from 0900-1300. A full list of all record offices can be obtained by typing in PUBLIC RECORD OFFICE in your search engine
