Trying to find information on a William Robinson married to Mary ? They had, I believe 7 children named Eliza born 1834 William born 1836 James born 1838 John born 1840 Emma born 1842 Harriet born 1848 Hannah R born 1852 All the children were born in Cambridge and their mother Mary gave that as her birth place. William however gave his place of birth as Durham Sunderland. He joined the Cambridge police force in 1836 and was a pretty poor copper until in July 1849. Because of his inept policing and poor record keeping a woman died after being beaten up by a one George Robinson alias Shaw. After this he pulled his socks up and finally on the marriage certificate of his daughter Emma(and police records I have from Cambridge Rcords Office) he had made Detective Inspector. Going forward from here is a doddle Emma married Henry Poole and I have much info on the Pooles but it is bugging me how did William end up in Cambridge? why did he go to Cambridge? and where did he marry Mary. I can find no marriage records as they would have married in or before 1820. are there any other Robinson searchers out there who can help me. thaks for reading this and good hunting everyone.
