Hi Mary I am looking for a ALFRED GEORGE NEWEY. He is usually known as GEORGE. He was born 27 Nov 1876 in Mayfair, London. I have him on the census in UK in Burton on Trent up to 1891. I can't find him on 1901. I do have Ancestry UK. I know he went to the USA with his son, also George born 1907. Think I have him on a passenger list from 1912 on the Winifredian going to New York. I know he returned to UK with his son and then left his son in foster care. Lost him after that. Can't find a death in England and Wales. He was an 'Entertainer' possibly Music Halls. If I have the correct person on the passenger list, he is described as a vocalist. My question is: Did he go back to the USA? Can you find him on any census there please? Margaret

TERRY HOPKINS Hi Terry I have looked and looked but can't find anything re your Louise Eddison. I did check the Birth of Benjamin He was born 22nd May 1889 Rhode Island. Parents John W and Louise. I also checked the death you found. but unfortunately there is no image and does not give any details apart from the birthdate which is also 22nd May 1889 so I would proabably assume that this is the same person. I can't find anything on him on any of the census records either have used various spellings but nothing. Do you happen to know if he married at all regards Mary PS Have just found a Boarder Crossing for him I think From Canada to Detroit Michigan in 1925. This also says born 1889 Providence Road Island. I have saved the image if you would like it. Now I have found him in 1925 I will take another look at the 1930 census

Many thanks for your kind offer! Would you be prepared to have a look for these people on the 1920 and 1930 USA censuses please, probably living in Utah? Their names are: John Ridge born 1885 UK Sarah Ann Ridge born 1887 UK Robert William Ridge born 1889 UK Florence Ridge born 1892 UK George William Ridge born 1894 UK Alfred Ridge born 1900 UK. They were all born in Middlesborough and I believe emigrated with their parents to the USA in 1915. I have Ancestry but don''t have the bit that covers USA - never found many relatives who live abroad before! Cheers, Horatia

JOHN LAMBERT My Apologies John. In my last message I said that Bernt had left the UK before 1910 I meant to say he left the USA before the 1910 Census as I have been unable to find anything on him in the US. Regards Mary

Sorry Mary, RE: Benjamin H Hopkins In my last message i meant 1891 census when he was just 1 year old. Terry Have managed to find out more about Benjamin Herbert Eddison. He went to New York in 1912 with his father John W Eddison. He must have returned to England as he again went to New York on the Mauretania in 1919. The record states as being born n Providence? I have also found a record of a Benjamin Eddison born around the same time and died in Michigan 1963. If you could help to confirm this in any way i would be most grateful although i am stiil intirgued as to what happened to his mother Louisa. Regards Terry

Hi Mary, I asked you last week if you could find anything about Benjamin H Hopkins born in USA 1890, It now seems he was known as Benjamin H Eddison whenhe was born and his Mother could have been either Eveline Hopkins (Unmarried) or Louisa (Hopkins) Addison who was married to John W Addison. I have been able to locate Benjamin in Armley Leeds with Eveline and his Grandfather Samuel And Grandmother Jayne Hopkins in the 1881 census. As you can imagine this is really bugging me as i have come to a complete halt in finding out anymore. I look forward to any clues you may be able to dig up for me, Regards, Terry

Hello again Mary ANN FOSTER I'm just nudging up the message I left a couple of days ago, in case you missed it. Ann Foster's parents were called John and Sarah. He was a wheel wright and they are found in 1841 in Soulbury, but not her. Someone emailed the page to see today, and the family is at the bottom of the page. I was wondering if Ann is simply on the next page - or actually living elsewher as she is already 20. Can you see if you can find her please? Sorry to bothet you again, best wishes Jane

JOHN LAMBERT Hi John. I think I remember looking for this before for you. I think it was probably me that gave you his immigratio record. It would appear that he left the uk before the 1910 census as nothing anywhere close to that name appears. Regards Mary

Bernt Mikkelsen Dahlsveen Hello again, Bernt Dahlsveen sailed to the US in 1903 from Norway ( believe it was Oslo). I have his Ellis Island entry. I know he was back in Norway by 1913 so I'm hoping he can be picked up on the 1910 Census. He was born in 1883 in Furnes, nr Hamar in the county of Hedmark, Norway. Rumour has it that he was a driver/taxi-driver but this cannot be proved. Common ways of spelling his name are Dahlsveen and Dalsveen. It is pronounced Dahlswain. Thanks, John
