To tell the truth Andrea the records Office is not that much different from what it was before they re did it.. So I am told anyway.. It could do with being in a bit bigger room to tell the truth.. There's too many bodies in that small room which makes it feel cramped and while it is so busy it feels uncomfortably small Plus this week I lost about half an hour on Wednesday afternoon.. Trying to track down a film that I needed.. It was'nt in the box I needed..the box was there .the film that was in the box should of been in Census.. The film in the census box was out of a newspaper reel for Auckland.. there was a film of Baptisms in that box but not the one I wanted..finally getting to that box with the right film in...but not with the right code... These Newbies LoL I got there in the end Mo Plus Andrea If your relying on the IGI There are a lot of Parishes that have not been covered at all.. Hence Why I am trawling two parishes at the moment which has no coverage on the IgI Mo

Mo Thanks very much for your help. Unfortunately that confirms that I have been on the WRONG track! The brick wall has grown another 6ft! There was a family of 'Bone's' that were all pilots who weren't related to my Robert Bone so he's obviously one of theirs. Looking back on it now I think I probably made that connection a few years ago and now when I think about it I wonder what made me so sure that a man supposedly born in Durham would be baptised in South Shields! I think, having searched through most of the Durham parishes and finding nothing for Robert Bone, that connection seemed the likliest (more like the only one!!). Many thanks for your help, you deserve a medal for all the help you give. Best Wishes Andrea PS. Did the refurbishment make any difference to the RO?

Hi Bev No the Church is C of E I know the area quite well as I used to go stay at Wingate with my sister when I was a wee girl.. lol Unless of course he was'nt baptised till he was a lot older.. but with all the others being baptised makes you wonder if he was baptised a Methodist.. as I have a feeling there was a New Methodist Church Built in Wingate around that time.. I dont know what to suggest really Mo

Bacardi

Bacardi Report 23 Feb 2006 22:20

Dear Mayoress It was just a thought, but is the Holy Trinity Church at Wingate Grange a Catholic one? The reason I ask is that my grandfather (Percy Brown) was excluded from his family as he renounced (is that the right word) his faith when he reached age 21. Having said that as all the others were baptised there, it would be strange not to bother with the youngest???? Thank you for the photo of the church too - it makes it all the more real somehow - if you know what I mean:-) Bev X (Mines a Bacardi)

Mayoress of Middleham Many thanks for finding my Brown christenings:-) I am very interested in the one for Bertha on 12 Feb 1896, as she is completely new to me (and not on the 1901 census with the rest of the family). Per your request, My Grandfather Percival Brown was born on 8/6/1901 at North Road, Wingate in the Parish of Castle Eden. I dont know if this will help in the search for his christening? Off to search for Bertha now:-) Bev X (Mines a Bacardi)
