You are supposed to be enjoying your children during the summer hols, Shelli!!! Just bear in mind .... they do eventually grow up, leave home at 30 or cost you £10.000 for a wedding!! Yes - found HM and have his death (ha, ha!!) in 1939. Did you get my email? Jackie

Crista

Crista Report 17 Aug 2004 21:10

Shelli, Does his name look like Augustus? An Augustus Meybruck married an Elisabeth Brunt in 1940 in Paddington. Crista

Hi Shelli Sure it doesn't say Sailor!!!! I had the same on a marriage certificate when we knew he was a mariner and couldn't understand why it said tailor (it's that rotten handwriting they had)Someone couldn't transcribe ye olde fashioned scrawl! Jackie PS Hope all's well

Zoe the epsom district birth is Isaac Jnr son, this i know cos i found them in 1901 can't find Robert tho the direct ancestor( but we think he may be away fighting as i have picture of him in uniform he reappears back in 1906 to get married) On the marriage cert in 1866 Mary's father is a tailor so a change to mariner of any type would be a big career change wouldn't it???? I can't read his name tho it looks like Guthaous Mybrook Come on you can't be out of ideas yet ;-)))))))))) Shellixx

Zoe

Zoe Report 17 Aug 2004 17:35

Shelli theres definitely more hits for Maybrook/Maybrooke - but not loads. I bet if you could figure out the handwriting for her dads name that bit of the family would be really easy to track down

Zoe

Zoe Report 17 Aug 2004 17:25

only possible father I can see on ancestry so far is: William Richard Maybrook 56 Ratcliff, Middlesex, England Head St Mary Stratford le Bow London but his occupation is down as a E???? Mariner thats searching maybrook*

Shelli4 Report 17 Aug 2004 17:18

Carolyn replied many thanks Zoe i do have Robert birth cert but of course in the junk that i call a computer desk/filing system i can't find it If i recall correctly then on somethings it is splet Maybrook, Isaac jnr ( rob's older brother) has the middle name of Maybrooke Any good ideas??? Shelli

Zoe

Zoe Report 17 Aug 2004 14:46

Shelli Just done a search on ancestry for the surname Mybrook and the ONLY hit in the whole system for that surname is your Mary E's marriage. It may be that the registrar has taken her name down wrong or was a bit deaf. DOn'y know what to do next tho - have you any of her kids' birth certs to compare the spelling?? Zoe

Zoe Report 17 Aug 2004 14:37

I've checked everyone called isaac born Marylebone aged 20 - 25 in the 1871 and there no obvious family grups that would make me think they've been mistrasncribed. Just going through everyone called Jeff* born marylebone update - nothing for Jeff*

Shelli4 Report 17 Aug 2004 10:14

Carolyn you know what you may have something there, as i can read Abraham's occupation on his son's marrage cert in 1866 but it may just be brush maker. NOw you've said it it makes sense LOL Thank you so much Shelli
