Hi Christopher, I posted a load of Nevilles on here but you never replied so I don't know if you've seen them or not. If you haven't, let me know and i'll look them up again, but i've taken them of here as they are taking up a lot of space. Nicola

Sarah Report 25 May 2005 22:54

Hi Sorry, I troubled you re Ada Mitchell, nee Handley nee Stroyd. I am getting stumped with this side of my family. If I can get further back to the 1800's I will come back to you. Kind regards Sarah

nic87 Report 25 May 2005 18:57

Hi Sarah, I'm afraid that the census I have is for 1851, and all the dates you mentioned were in the 1900's. Do you have any ancestors further back that I can help with? Hope I can help, Nicola

Christopher Report 24 May 2005 00:49

Hi Nicola, This is a little bit of a longshot...I am a rather new member here, I was wondering if you could look up anyone with the last names of nevill or neville most likely the former in the warwickshire area. From what i am lead to beleive i am a direct or indirect descendant of Richard Nevill, Earl of Warwick (died 1464). I think i had a lot of family there at one stage...if you want me to obtain more specific info before you check let me know...I am not sure what you need to be honest. Thanks

Sarah Report 24 May 2005 00:14

Hi Ian, Thanks for your offer, I would be most grateful if you could help with my following relations. I trying to find info regarding my grandmother, Iknow that she married October 1908. Her name was Ada Stroyd she married Luke Handley on the above date. Luke had died by the time my mother married in 1941. I do know that my grandmother re-married and was Mrs Ada Mitchell, but I do not know her 2nd husbands christian name. In 1941 she was living at 38 Yockleton Rd, Lea Hall, Birmingham B33. Thanking you in advance for your kind assistance. Sarah My mother was Elsie Handley born 29th March 1909 and I know that they were living at 15 Britannia Court ,Saint Pauls Square, Birmingham. My mother also had 2 brothers, Alfred and Ronald. I don't know if there were any other children.

He was James Allen Steel, born 1834 in Warwick. His parents were William and Kezia steel. Just thinking that ther might be some link there. many thanks. Pat

I couldn't find a Sophia Spittle or a Samuel Spittle. Sorry, Nicola

Gypsy Report 11 Apr 2005 20:38

Hi, Sorry i don't know their ages. I have found a possibilty for Sophia's birth in 1828, but i am not sure if that is correct yet. The only info i have about them is from Samuels marriage cert in 1866. He married in Dudley. I am fairly certain that his parents were not married, so its possible he may only be with his mother. Pat

nic87 Report 11 Apr 2005 20:34

Hi Pat, What were the ages of Samuels parents? I'm having trouble finding them! Nicola

Gypsy Report 10 Apr 2005 20:54

Hi Nicola, Thankyou for your kind offer. I have very limited info, so anything will help. I am looking for Samuel Adams / Spittle. He was born samuel Adams in May 1846 to John and Sophia Adams (Nee Spittle). He was born in Dudley Port. John's occupation was a miner. I have not found a marriage for his parents, so I do not know if they will be together or not. By the time Samuel married in 1866 he was using the name Samuel Spittle. He then used that name until he died. I am not sure yet, but it is possible that his mother Sophia married James Allen Steel in 1857 in Dudley. Sorry i know its a bit long winded, but im hoping that the more info you have the better! Thanks again, Regards. Pat

Netti Report 10 Apr 2005 20:33

Thanks for looking again Nicola Joseph and Sarah had 2 sons, one born Cradley in 1853 and another in 1855 so we are guessing they married between 1848 and 1853. Don't know why Joseph came to the midlands or when. At least you have narrowed the time frame for us - thanks have to get to the history centre and check the GRO indexes now. Netti x
