James

if John was born before 1837 he wont have a birth certificate, the only option you really have is to search for a baptism record for him,

as you already have him in the census records not with his parents, i wont be able to do anything about finding his parents, his baptism or marriage record might help you

Hi Jane

nedd help to confirm g.grandfathers family.

Edward Doster Pitman B 1857
Middlezoy Somerset.
Father James Pitman B 1832 Married a Sarah Simond I think.

Have made a sort of connection with what I think could be James father, another James 1796 married to a Rebecca children. Elizabeth, Emma, Eliza Jane ,
Edwin and James trouble is there seems to be so many Pitmans from Westonzoyland area. Do you advise purchasing birth cert for James (no 1).

Any help or advice would be welcome.

Julie,

births were not registered in 1805, as it didn't happen until 1837, but still then wasnt compulsary!

afraid the same would apply to his marriage as that looks like it occured before 1837 too, so you would need to check parish records for those.

sorry for the bad news !

Clare.

George won't be in 1901 census if he wasn't born until 1922....

i have tried to look for a marriage for Grace Wickers & Mr Rogers, but without an idea of years it could take a while, have to trawl through pages for each 1/4 of each year!

may i suggest you purchase George's birth certificate to get his fathers name,

you do realise that even with his fathers name, they still might not appear in 1901 census, unless they were older than 22 when George was born !

Any chance of some help please? New to this and I'm just hitting a dead end.

Looking for more info on George Edward Rogers born in the last quarter of 1922 in Dartford to mother Grace Wickers. Married someone we think could be called Ivy and had 3 kids called (again, we think) Heather, Valerie and Jeffrey.

George also served in the Queens own royal west Kent regiment.

I have info on Grace Wickers upwards but can't find anything on George downwards IYKWIM.

Any info on any of them would be fab!!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jane

I would be really grateful if you could do a couple of look ups for me in the 1851 and 1871 census records for Northumberland?

The person I am lookin for is Sarah Usher, born 1798 (although she gave her age as 60 in the 1861 census) and any others living with her.

In the 1841 census she was living at Blackett Street, Newcastle and in the 1861 census she was living at 31 Blenheim Street, Westgate, Newcastle.

Many Thanks

Hey Jane,

Thank you ever so much for those. What a mistranscription for 1871 didn't you do well!! There were some extra children there I was looking for another son as there was a grandson in 1881 Herbert Teagle Massey age 1. Must have been illegitimate!!!

Very much appreciated as always
