Trying to find more information on GEORGE BROWN, a silversmith living in Birmingham in 1839 with wife CHARLOTTE and baby son , also GEORGE. By 1841 he is in Sydney, Australia , possibly deported. Children SARAH, LOUISA,CHARLOTTE, EMMA (1847 - my GGGrandmother), WILLIAM and JAMES are all born there. By time of 1851 census all are back in Birmingham. Have found a George Brown convicted at Warwick Court in 1839 and sentenced to 15 years in the colonies but pardoned in May 1849. Many facts fit but would love to have more information on him to corroborate findings, find out why he was deported etc. or even if I've got it all completely wrong. |
