James Walker, c1809, of Ireland. I'm seeking any info on this man, who came to Tasmania where he married ex-convict Margaret Walsh (or Welsh) on 7 Feb 1845. I can find no documents before the marriage registration, but family stories say that he was Irish and came to Tasmania with a brother. I have not been able to find death records for either Margaret or James.
James and Margaret had one son, Michael Henry Walker, c1844, in Launceston. Michael was married in Gisbourne, Victoria, in 1864 to Harriet Powis who had come from Hereford/Shropshire UK.
Michael's children included James Henry 1865, Evelene Mary 1868, Harriet Maude 1870, Edward George 2 Oct 1872, Walter Herbert 1875, Henrietta 1878.
I would dearly love to know where James Walker came from, and where he disappeared to.
