Married to either Henrietta or Harriot.

Which area are they from?

You should be able to find him on the 1881 census which is free to search on either ancestry or www. familysearch.org

I know for definate that my dad Robert was born in Poplar east London England and his mothers maidon name i believe is Jay

Grandad married Harriet Jay But dont know where or what year Harriet was 94 when she died and Arthur was 88 can any one help please

Grandad had a farm but i dont know where when they lost it they moved to london Berna street stepney

I presume, then, that the marriage that Sophie found in Jun Q 1901 is them. It was in Plomesgate and on the 1901 census there's this Harriet Jay in Plomesgate:

You need to get a copy of Arthur and Harriet's marriage cert. details have been given above, this will give you his fathers name
This look like a possibility for him in 1891 prior to his marriage, but as I said can only be proved by the marriage cert.
