Hi Sharon

Just to add more to the great stuff you have here, this looks like Samuel's marriage (it is the only possible for the dates)

Surname: DAVIES
Given Names: Saml
Event: M
Spouse Surname: ROSE
Spouse Gvn Names: Elsie May
Year: 1917
Reg. Number: 5017

This is her death, quite young:

Surname: DAVIES
Given Names: Elsie May
Father: Rose Hugh [d. 1950 aged 76 W'town]
Mother: Louisa Josephine RHODES [d. 1952 aged 76 Altona]
Death Place: ALTONA
Age: 37
Year: 1935
Reg Number: 7221
Event: D

It doesn't look as tho Samuel remarried. I can't find any chn to this couple but they may have been born after 1920.

This might be Samuel's death:

Surname: DAVIES

Hope this helps to complete the picture! :-)

Cheers
Cherilyn

Hi Sharon,
Continuing on from jdee's info of Samuel's next of kin being Elsie, I have found the following info in the Australian Electoral Roll for Victoria.
1924,; district of Melbourne Ports, Sub-district of Newport:-
DAVIES Samuel, 96 Elphin Street, Newport, labourer
DAVIES Elsie May, 96 Elphin Street, Newport, H/Duties
1931; District of Batman, Sub-district of Preston:-
DAVIES Samuel, 241 Gower St.; Railway worker.

Hi Sharon, Following on Joan's good work -you may like to try the Victoria State Library -they have an 'Ask Us' Librarian service - query form on-line. They will check their records -including electoral rolls (past & present). They may have newspaper death notices too. -Valerie (WA)

Looking for info or decendents of Samuel Davies, born 1894 in Tylorstown, Glamorgan,Wales.
His parents were Richard & Hannah Davies - Samuel had 2 sisters Annie & Sarah Jane and a brother, Richard.
Samuel emigrated to Australia in his teens prior to WW 1 - he served with the Australian Forces in France as by chance he met his brother Richard, serving with the British Army. During the fighting they lost touch with each other - this is the only time they had contact.
Richard never had an address for Samuel - their mother wouldn't divulge Samuel's whereabouts for fear of Richard following his brother.
Samuel's father was killed in 1896 - his mother remained a widow until 1908/09 when she remarried - becoming Hannah Mabey.
Richard was my grandfather and we have often wondered what happened to Samuel.
