I've discovered my great-grandfather Joseph Martin (born Hoxton circa 1834) had a previous marriage before he married Elizabeth GRIERSON. From this marriage there was a son named CHARLES who appears on the 1871 Census (age 6) living with the family at 45 Outram Street, Islington. The census states that Charles was born in Marylebone but I have found no records of this. |

Is it possible that Charles is the son of Elizabeth Grierson - only if Charles was born c.1865 and Joseph married Elizabeth in 1866 it seems a bit "quick". |

No, it clearly states on the Marriage Certificate for Joseph and Elizabeth that Joseph was a widower so Charles must have been very young when his mother died (maybe even in childbirth). |
