Anne - it's definitely best to get marriage cert if you're sure enough it's the correct one. Do try freebmd if you haven't already - there are several Sarah Evans born in Shropshire around 1870, so a second name would really help. |

Firstly do you know the 1881 census is free on ancestry.co.uk and on familysearch.org - Im going to bed now, but you could have a look for them on that one. Also freebmd gives births, deaths and marriage refs. You need to find their marriage ref on there and buy the certificate from GRO online for £7 which will give both fathers names and occupations and witnesses names - all clues to finding the previous generation. |

I am trying to find Sarah Evans born 1870-71she married Henry White 1887 at St Saviours Deptford I believe she was born in Shropshire, can anyone help, I would like to find her parents too but have no idea of their names. Does anyone recognise any of the names below in the 1901 census |
