Davies Report 4 Nov 2008 01:44

I am seeking any info on John Turner born 1881 either Yorkshire or Manchester England. His Father's name George and Mother's name Harriet, maiden name Barry. George was a bricklayer. Both George and Harriet, at a guess, would of been born about 1840's to 50's.
John Turner migrated to Australia early 1900's after his wife died in childbirth, the child lived and was raised by her Grandparents. The child's name was Catherine and the wife's name was Annie but this could be the other way around. If any one in England knows of Turners with these names would love to hear as any info is better than nothing as that's all we have to go on.
John Turner went to Tasmania first than over to NSW, he sent money back to England for his daughter. John worked as a cook on sheep stations in Australia but I think he owned a Butcher shop in England.
There must be someone with a missing relative in England who is wondering what happened to their ancestor or Turners who have these names in their tree?
Please if any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Barbara

Hi Barbara

There is a possible death in NSW but could be a coincidence. You could try a transcription agent as a cheaper option than ordering the full cert.

John TURNER, son of George & Harriet, died in 1945 in Murrumburrah NSW (reg 18651).

Good luck
Cherilyn

PS To appease the Taswegians, I have to point out that Tasmania IS Australia too!
