My great grandfather was Eric Cyril Walker born 05.11.1905, he married Elsie Martin, and they had 2 sons Brian & Michael.........
I am trying to find out info on Erics parents, I have hit a brick wall, I have no names or d.o.b........
Eric also had two brothers, they were Moss & Horace,he had 2 sisters but I have nothing on them either..............I look forward to hearing from someone?

Rushden has a website - I'll see if I've saved the link but I found it by googling.

I found some info on there for my OH's aunty's family - when they were at school earlier in the 20th century.

If I don't come back then google Rushden genealogy or something I'm sure you'll find it.

1911 census!

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

WALKER ERIC CYRIL 1906 5 Wellingborough Northamptonshire

Next step: search for Walkers living with Eric Cyril Walker.

WALKER HORACE ARCHIBALD 1897 14 Wellingborough Northamptonshire
WALKER MINNIE 1891 20 Wellingborough Northamptonshire
WALKER REGINALD 1900 11 Wellingborough Northamptonshire

Huh! I suspect the mother had remarried and so the parents in the household had a different surname?

I shall check ...

edit - that was me being stupid. I had Rushden as place of birth rather than residence.

WALKER SAMUEL 1861 50 Wellingborough Northamptonshire
WALKER ELIZA 1861 50 Wellingborough Northamptonshire

Oh yes - yay Rushden. I have 19th century family there!

If you order his birth certificate you'll get parents names then we can find them on the census.
Oops! Janey already found them.

No, sorry, that really was me being stupid.

You should try out the 1911 census search from the link I put.

I had typed Rushden into the place of birth line, instead of the place of residence line.

So I got all the kids, who were born in Rushden, but not the parents, who were evidently born elsewhere.

Ah - you must have seen my post before I edited.

Sorted now? ;)

Editing again to be perfectly clear -- these are the adults in the same household:

WALKER SAMUEL 1861 50 Wellingborough Northamptonshire
WALKER ELIZA 1861 50 Wellingborough Northamptonshire

Yup, MM -- fortunately he wasn't a John. ;)

Are we all going to let Amanda find the marriage at FreeBMD?

And there were more!

1891 census in Rushden: > > edit > > 1901, not 1891

Samuel Walker 38 - born Shefford, Bedfordshire, England
Eliza Walker 38 - born Haynes, Bedfordshire, England
Annie Walker 15 - Haynes, Bedfordshire, England
Laura Walker 13
Minnie Walker 10
Harise Walker 4
Regril Walker 1
William Brunt 18 - nephew, born Haynes

So Haynes, wherever that is, would be where they married. ;)

Aha, it's in Ampthill district, and so is the marriage.

Ms. G -- thank you for that site! I'd never seen it. I am now browsing ...

And I just found the 1799 baptism of my grx3 grandfather. ;)

His given name was Green ... and he had a son named Phields ... I kid you not ...

Oh drat, MM, I posted that and mistakenly called it 1891. I'll fix that ...

Everybody in Rushden was in the boot and shoe trade - those factories were what got my ancestors out of the Ag Lab rut ... or ditch, as the case may have been.

I think you meant 1901 census, Janey?
I agree we should let Amanda have the pleasure of finding the marriage herself on FreeBMD but noticed this one on BVRI and it has fathers' names. (Presuming Hawnes is Haynes?)

WALKER, Samuel Age: 23 Marriage
Wife: Eliza COOPER Age: 22

Husband's Father: William WALKER
Wife's Father: William COOPER
