He was born in Norfolk 1823.Redenhall.Awarded v.C. in Lucknow during the Indian Mutiny.I am rather confused. I believe his father to be James Ward. Born in Weybread, Suffolk in 1804 and his mother Mary Reeve. If anyone has him in their tree I would be very glad of some confirmation of these facts. P.S. Redenhall is in Norfolk.

Did he marry?

If so, the father's name and occupation will be on the cert............

Have you tried a google search?

As the recipient of the Victoria Cross, it would seem likely that there is info about him on line.

I'm not sure if this Old News, but Henry Ward spent his last years in Malvern and the Library there has produced a booklet about him. It seems that there is/was an historical society in Harleston, Norfolk and there is a reference to the late Mrs K Newby of the society: so it may still be going. There is also a reference to Miss M Andrew, living in Australia who is Henry's great-granddaughter.
