CANT FND ANYTHING FOR JANE IN 1891

Robert

Robert Report 22 Nov 2008 22:10

Thank you Whippet Lady and Snowflake.
Emma Harris was Elizabeths sister.
I would love to know if Jane Ward married and went on to have more children. She was only 33 when last heard of! Do you think the name Albany was any thing to do with his father. There was a lot of baby 'Albanys' around at the time in the area. Anything to do with a rich land-owing M. P.? I have looked at all the Inwardleigh sites with no success. See in 1901 -Jack- his real name was Albany John - not found out by family until they tried to register his death!!
If you do find anything please contact again. Many Thanks, Sue Ward.

I would suspect that if you cannot find a LOCAL marriage or death, there are several options

she moved away and is living elsewhere

she married/died elsewhere in England.

Have you followed every one of her siblings to see if she is living with any of them

Thank you . I traced most of her siblings, found nothing but very much enjoyed it! Left if for a while then traced all possible marriages in C1891. Found one to a Mark Stone, where the 'Jane' had lost 6 years since the C1881 and the couple were living with a young -on-trial- William Ward. Those dates matched up. Found this young man to be Jane Wards nephew. Her husband was 16 years her junior. They did not have children, he died at 51, but she lived to 75. I was hoping for a big family of half sisters or brothers but it wasn't to be. Thanks for all help and encouragment. Now who was Albanys father? The rich local M. P. ?
Sue Ward.

I do like a (sort of) happy ending!

Albany is a strange name for a child - or isn't it? If it's rare enough I wonder whether it was a clue as to dad's surname - or dad's forename too? I expect you've checked that but just in case ...

or it could just be that a man of renown in the area ...................... MP, major landowner, etc ...... was called Albany, and children were named after him just because people liked the name

rather like people today name their children after TV or film stars!
