Jane Ward of Inwardliegh, Okehampton, Devon b.1838. Had baby Albany 1860 [b Meeth] out of wedlock. With family 1871 but can not find any trace after that; locally no death nor marriage. No father of Albany on birth certificate. Please - any information about what happened to Jane. Thank You, Sue Ward. |

I would suspect that if you cannot find a LOCAL marriage or death, there are several options |

Thank you . I traced most of her siblings, found nothing but very much enjoyed it! Left if for a while then traced all possible marriages in C1891. Found one to a Mark Stone, where the 'Jane' had lost 6 years since the C1881 and the couple were living with a young -on-trial- William Ward. Those dates matched up. Found this young man to be Jane Wards nephew. Her husband was 16 years her junior. They did not have children, he died at 51, but she lived to 75. I was hoping for a big family of half sisters or brothers but it wasn't to be. Thanks for all help and encouragment. Now who was Albanys father? The rich local M. P. ? |

or it could just be that a man of renown in the area ...................... MP, major landowner, etc ...... was called Albany, and children were named after him just because people liked the name |
