I am trying to trace back the direct male line for my husband's family. I am looking for info on William John Ward born c1830's. He married Ellen Hill on 25-12-1852 in St Andrew's Bethnal Green London. Had at least one child - William Robert Ward born 1858 London. William John Ward's father was John Ward. William John ward was a traveller / draper's collector. Ellen Hill's father was Abraham Hill, a shoemaker. Hope someone out there can help.

HI Sam,

Have seen that entry on family search but can't be sure he's mine. I don't know if mine had brothers and sisters either. It may be a hopeless quest unless there were siblings and someone else directly descended is also looking for info. Thankyou for taking the time to look though, I appreciate it and if ever get more info I'll definately post it so you can see.

Regards, Alison

Hi Alison,
Where was William John Ward in the 1841 and 1851 Census? do you think that either of these might help.

Hi Sam,

There was a William Ward in the 1841 census. It lists the father as John Ward born c 1801 (which is the rough estimate I've given for my William's father). It also lists William age 14 years old and another William as 6 years old. The 1851 shows the same family but with only the youngest William still at home. They lived in Warsop (have no idea where that is beyond it being in Nottinghamshire - I'm in Oz so I'll have to google it). The only other little snippet I have is that William and Ellen were both 'full' age when married and they both lived in Bethnal Green Road at the time of their marriage, I couldn't read the number. I don't have access to other census records as yet.

Alison.
