Could anyone please help trace a birth cert for Evan John b1889 in Wales. I've sent for two both are wrong. His marriage certificate states Evan John so surely his birth certificate would be the same, or am i persuming too much. He married Harriet Morgan in 1910 at Pontycymmer Congregation Church. His father is named Joseph Williams still alive at marriage. Thanks for any help.

actually Kym, re your message, it's a question I'm asking rather than a statement! Could I add, you have a job on your hands - there are more Williams' in Wales than you can shake a stick at - I know!! I'm a Williams in Wales and it is a tricky one, especially with the forenames as well, which are typically Welsh

Hi kym
you could try finding a death cert. You know when he married. so any time between then and upto 2006 On the death cert should show his wifes name as a check before you order it. Or try wills. On Scottish wills it gives addresses, occupation, wifes name. Maybe welsh ones could be the same.
And yes I know there are thousands of Williams. I have Smith in my family tree. Found out who my grgrgrandfathers' father /mother was through his death cert. when I could not find his marriage cert, or his birth cert.
