Can you explain the question a bit?

You're trying to find their ancestors?

Henry was your grx2 grfather, but Elizabeth wasn't your grx2 grmother?

Henry went to Australia without her? Or did they both die in Australia?

Do you have any info at all about where they were from? Australian death certificates can be wondrous things - if anyone knew at the time of death, they might include parents' names and places of birth.

Do you know when he/they went to Australia?

Did they have any children born in England?

(I'm assuming we're talking England here! ... duh, look at the surnames, I'm likely assuming wrong; Wales?)

... As far as I can tell, there isn't a Henry Williams with a wife Elizabeth of those ages in Wales in 1841 or 1851. But I should wait to find out whether they had kids before leaving and any idea there might be of where they were from.

O-kay, well that's a whole lot more than we started out with!

Here's where I get off the boat, because old Australian records aren't this Canadian's specialty. ;)

I suggest you edit your post (link in lower left of your first post) to include "Australia" in the subject line.

Space is limited, so I would make it something like

Henry Williams, England to Australia 1820

and that way your fellow Aussies will have their eyes caught. No luck with parents' names on a marriage or death certificate, I guess?

But aha.

I don't have access to these docs at Ancestry, but someone who does should come along.

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1590&enc=1

England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892

Henry Williams
estimated dob abt 1804
date of trial Feb 1820
location of trial Middlesex, England

But actually I guess that's what you've got already. ;)

Hi Daniel

Do you have Henry's death certificate or marriage certificate?

I am guessing his marriage cert wouldn't mention parents names as it was so early but his death cert may.

Have you looked at www.records.nsw.gov.au? HIs ticket of leave may also provide some info.
